Strange color combo
A friend of mine just purchased a 69 427/390 convertible 4 spd car. While the car itself is not uncommon, the paint/interior is. The trim plate lists it as being an original yellow/green interior car. Does anyone have a clue as to how many were built in this combination? He bought the car w/ the intent of changing it to a black interior, but it is a numbers matching car and would like to keep it original if it is a rare car. He realizes that it is not the most desirable of combos, but if it is one of a small handful he would most likely leave the green interior.

Rarity does not always equate to desirability. Color combinations that were not ordered back in the day were evidently not desirable then...and are more than likely not desirable today. In order for a car to be valuable in today's market, it has to be desirable. Big block cars are generally more desirable (valuable) than small block cars and some people believe that convertibles are more desirable than T-tops. This may be just a fad/rumor and I for one am not convinced. One of the problems with the L-36 427/390 is that over 10,000 were produced in '69. They were desirable then and they are still desirable today. They are the last of the affordable 427 vettes. Now if the car was a yellow/green convertible with an L-89 or L-88 big block...who the heck cares?

There were 1217 '69s with green vinyl, 115 with leather. There are no figures available as to a breakout on coupes, convertibles, or yellow with the green.
My gut feeling says it probably looks better than it sounds.

Hi,
My wife complains all the time about the bananas I bring home.
I think they're sorta YELLOW and she says they're still REALLY GREEN.
If I had this car I'd have something to compare them to in the grocery store parking lot.!!!
Regards,
Alan

I had to Google this. I just could not picture it. Here is a link to a yellow/green for sale...

The ad says "Possibly 1 of 1." OOPS... I guess not.

I saw the ad for the yellow/green coupe. It could still possibly 1 of 1 as that is a coupe car. The trim tag is correct for the color combo(checked it). A good friend of mine who is in the classic muscle car biz said to check for the build sheet on top of the tank and that any notes re: it as a COPO car would be noted there. We will find out, the car was delivered last night...
