Default Corvette and Prom

Had to share this pic. Yesterday was my son's prom. His date purposely chose a dress to go with the Vette. Unfortunately, the school required the kids to take busses to the prom so they couldn't drive the car but it still made for a great pic (ignore the dirty car , didn't know that they wanted the pic).

Great picture! Nice looking sidepipes on the vette

No busses for me to my proms. Took my date in a 1958 Pontiac Bonnieville convertible.

Me neither. I remember gas spewing from my broken gas cap as I drove up the hill to the venue. Thank goodness I brought a bottle of brandy to sooth our nerves when we arrived

They are extremely focused here on making sure that the kids stay safe. Given the number of booze related incidents that you hear of, I suppose that I understand. Doesn't mean that I like it though.

Thanks Thomas, I hope so too!

Your son's date did well with the color match. I never heard of having to take a bus to prom either but think about the chance of it becoming a "party bus".

I understand wanting the kids to be safe, but how about trusting them , that they will be responsible to do what we've taught them. sometimes thing just get takin overboard.

great match on the dress and vette!

Great looking trio. Too bad they couldn't drive the vette, it would have been a story for both of them to tell their kids one day.

Busses?

Nice pic Mike, your sons girlfriend is very pretty

RE the buses....first time I've heard of that one, but it'll probably be a requirement by the time my daughter is ready for the prom

Nice looking couple there, and she did do a great job matching up.

My daughter graduated HS this past week, but for some reason (probably that it's still in pieces) she didn't ask for any prom or grad pics with the 'vette.

Congratulations Mike,

Too bad about the bus, must have been very disappointing for them but hey, tomorrow a holiday, let them take it out for a ride. She's very pretty and your son looks happy. Years ago, my son and I restored a '76 which became his high school graduation present. He graduated from college last June and his girlfriend is now my daughter-in-law. Time flies, enjoy the memories.

At some point they are going to have to make their own decisions. Are we preparing them to be able to do that?

That's a great picture. It's nice to know that your son and his girl friend think enough of you and your Corvette that she would take the time to find a dress that matches your car.
They make a nice couple and you have a picture that captures a moment in time.

When I went to prom in the 80's, to me the car was as important as the date. I can't imagine taking a bus to prom! However, I went to prom last weekend w my girlfriend, (she's a teacher and was chaperoning and she asked me to go with her), and it was at the convention center downtown, where you parked nowhere near, and no one would have seen what car you were driving anyway. That's awesome that your son's date picked her dress to match the car, though!

My wife works for the school district and she say that busing students to and from (the prom) and other events is becoming more common now.

Thanks! I take some credit for tying it but it's inconceivable to me that I could have done it without youtube:

The guy is a bit pompous but his detailed instructions allowed me to get it right the first time. Total time, including watching the video twice before trying it on my son: 30 minutes.
