Pictures of my 79 today...w/new OBX Sidepipes
I just installed some OBX sidepipes a few weeks ago. Install went smooth, nothing more than what you guys comment on. I had to widen some header bolt holes along with making clearance around the idler arm joint and steering box. I used the vettepack inserts from classic chambered exhaust. They were great to work with.
I originally purchased some maximizer headers/pipes from supersaveraccesories and the headers were scratched up badly and one of the pipes were dented. By the time fedex approved the claim (PIA to work with by the way, horrible customer service) the company was out of maximizers and went out of their way to offer the OBX for the same price ($50 difference).
Here's the pictures:
also found that i had a busted transmission mount....while i was there:
headers flange hole off a little:
I dented these areas for extra clearance:
After fitting them I gave them a good polish with a buffing wheel on a drill:

they look AWSOME, I am still getting used to having mine, trying to find the best way to keep them not discoloring around the collectors. I don't know how many times I can polish them, lol. if you find out a good way to keep them from turning yellow please let me know. I was really impressed with how nice the welds polish out.
what emblems did you put on your fenders???

Your Vette looks choice with the sidepipes, C5Z wheels and L-88 hood, and of course the fact that it looks like an '80-'82 seals the deal man!

I put an 80-82 style front/rear on my 79 so I left the 79 badges on the side fenders and 80's style on the front nose and gas lid.

I'm not a fan of sidepipes on rubber bumper cars, but I gotta say, they work really well on your car.
