So I just bought a 74 stingray, for $7500, I will post pics, and it is white with tan interior all original with matching numbers and the 350 with the 9.0:1 compression! What do you guys think?
P.S. Please don't hit me to hard if I got ripped off lol

you say you are 19....do you know how to check the numbers on the car (engine, tranny, etc) or are you just taking the sellers "all original, numbers matching" claim?
do you know how and where to look for bad rust problems? this is a BIGGIE!
7500.00 for a 74 is ok IF the car is as you have described, the 74' models are one of the cheaper C3's available. post some pics! and congrats!

Congrats! It`s nice to see some younger people still love the old cars, and are still willing & eager to get into the hobby!
Now get the camera going so we can see it!

I checked the numbers and they were checked by a corvette dealer in the area that is very involved in the local club and has only sold vets for 56 years also I took it to a garage to get checked for frame rust and I also checked it for birdcage rust and there was none, I will post pics but it is in very good condition, the interior is pretty mush perfect

I am getting there lol, and yes I am a very technical person I am triple majoring in college and I was just about to put a down payment on a benz lease but once I saw the vet I instantly fell in love, it is defiantly worth a little work to me!, and after driving it coming from a tdi golf and driving over 50 cars in my life I don't think I would want to drive any other car!

Great. My Son is also 19 going on 30. lol Anyway, he loves driving the Vette. His daily driver is an 81 Bronco. Big differance between the two. You will have alot of fun. Just remember these cars are made to be driven, not stored and only brought out when the sun is just right. Enjoy. Al

Enjoy the ride! Always remember that it can only be original once.
If it truly is an all original survivor you should join the ncrs and buy a technical information guide and judging manual. You dont have to go the judging route, etc...but it will be nice for you to know what is proper and what is not for your new 74.

Also, if you do make any modifications to the car, keep all the original parts that came off the car.

My son is 17 and we are weeks away from his '76 being on the road. Sounds like you got a good deal. We paid $5000 for his, but have about $7500 in it right now, but then we've upgraded the suspension, rebuilt suspension and steering, and other new goodies and stuff, weather stripping, new chrome vents inside, tach rebuild, new air ducting, sound proofing, new relays and some other stuff. He's going to be saving up for a new paint job next, original metallic brown with yellow GS stripes. Interior is dark brown, yellow, two tone. Figure with some new interior parts and paint down the road a few months, he'll be into it about $11,000, and it should be worth that, if not a little more at that point. BTW, engine is all redone with go-fast goodies - pushing 300+ HP, rear diff is new, new cross stays and spring mounts also, new 2 1/2 " exhaust. Sounds like you got a good deal too. Good luck, have fun, and keep her on the road!

Sounds like tons of fun! I bought my first C3 when I was 18, and paid right around 5k for it. I know now I overpaid, BUT I had to have a corvette! I am 24 now, and the car has moved on, but I still have a C3 in the garage. Good luck and we are looking forward to the pics!

Real question is now you have it, how much more you're going to spend it to run like a beast?
I have a 74 and it was way under powered got crushed and hassled by little 4 banger imports every time I went out joyriding when I first bought it.
If you don't care about being harassed, that is good and you will save lots of money. If you do, just be careful, horsepower is another form of most addictive drug in the market (Most of members in here and myself speak from experience).
You have a beautiful car with LOTS of potential. Enjoy it to the fullest. If you want to make it FAST N LOUD, please ask us before listening to backyard mechanics. We have just about every vette GURU in this forum who can virtually save you thousands of dollars on DYI repairs and upgrades.
This forum is you and your vette's best friend.
