Default Value of my 4-speed Muncie??

I just installed a Keisler 5 speed which I highly recommend to anyone thinking about it. It's soooooo nice cruising down the highway at 80 and the engine isn't screaming

Can anyone tell me the value of the 4-speed Muncie I took out? It worked fine, I just wanted a 5 speed.

Let me add that I do not have the original 327 but a 350, so the car is already devalued. My buddy would like to buy it to stick into a GTO he bought that originally had a 4-speed that someone converted to auto and he wants to convert it back. I don't want to screw him nor do I want to give it away.

I sold mine a few weeks ago for $600. It was rebuilt with about 200 miles on it.

Which Keisler did you go with? Did you do the work yourself? I have been giving this a lot of thought lately. I have a 454 and just bought a new billet steel flywheel, Center-force dual friction clutch, and scatter shield.

Would like to get the details on this from you including cost if you had it done.

Thanks, Jerry

I would say that's a fair price, provided the case doesn't have broken ears etc and it's usable otherwise.

If it has no issues...your short changing yourself! I would ask $500 if it shifts smooth and no broken parts.
I sold a disassembled M21 a few weeks ago that had teeth missing on the cluster shaft and an ear broken off the main case for $200. If your not in a hurry, you'll get your price

If the Muncie's going to a friend who will pick it up, and take it out of your hair for $250, what I'd do. This sort of convienence is worth a lot. A friend of mine did the Keisler 5 speed conversion on his 79' L-82 3.70 geared car a few years back, and would do it again in a heartbeat. I have another car with 3.73 gears, and went with a 700R4 o.d. tranny from a TH350, and wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

I have a fresh M20 Wide ratio just rebuilt by Zip zero miles with receipt, and new Hurst Shifter with original styled T handle shifter from Corvette Central (also with receipt). How much would it be worth? Cuz I just pulled my auto out this week and was getting ready to install it, but after reading this post and many others I might want to wait for the 5 speed????

a guy in MA sells them rebuilt, no core with a warranty for 750-825

so really a couple to a few hundred..in my eyes, not worth what they use to be

if they are the small countershaft, they are almost worthless as they are super prone to leak and many rebuilders do not want that case as machine for an oversize bearing etc, by the time you do that could have got new aftermarket case

yeah stingrays r us...with shifter, maybe worth more like $1000? who knows...a lot of times when people dont have stock cars and you are approaching a grand, a 5 or a 6 speed starts making sense

a 5 or a 6 speed really makes the car so much more enjoyable imho, can take on longer road trips easier etc

I sold mine last June with a Hurst shifter for $600 to a friend.
It needed a couple of seals but otherwise a old tranny.
