Identify Wiring Box Beside Wiper Motor
1982 Corvette.
I need to know the purpose of the small black box that is bolted to the firewall right beside the wiper motor to the drivers side.
It has a plug in from the bottom and I can clearly see 1 pink wire, 2 pink wires with a black stripe and a black wire with a pink stripe.
On my car, the black wire with a pink stripe is running to the front of the car and not connected to anything.
Thx in advance ,...John

Isn't that the MAS (mass airflow sensor)? The AIM shows it and the wiring.

The part I'm looking at is between the MAP sensor (I think it's the MAP because it uses a vac hose) and the wiper motor.
This part just has wires. Could it be the control for the rad electric fan? If it does my car is without the electric fan. The black wire w the pink stripe could go to the electric fan?
Could that be it?
Thx John

Thx for that info. I'm making progress.
I removed the relay cover and found a part #14039681,...then I searched the internet for "air hood duct" "air hood duct motor" and "air hood duct switch" & I can't find anything that this relay would control.
I'm still stumped.
Thx John

Look on the inside of your hood, There is a solenoid and door for the air duct to the air cleaner. That is what the relay controls. Most just remove the door and solenoid to get cooler air to the intake all the time, otherwise it only allows the air flow at wide open throttle. This is controlled by the ECM. (Hood Louvre W.O.T. solenoid relay.)
If you have a GM Shop manual check P. 6E-13 & more on P6E-67-69.
