69 Coupe was it a BB??
I have 2 69 Coupes one is a L71 427/435 with all the original numbers correct. the other is a roller that I am using to bring the first one up to 100% as I get it back on the road after being in dry storage for 30+ yrs. My question is - the roller was bought from an old dragster in the savannah area who had it stored for over 15 years. He said that it was a BB when he got it for the engine and trans which are long gone. It had the BB radiator support and radiator in the car which I needed for the L71. Is there any other feature specific to a BB or will the Vin# verify that it was a BB. Vin # is 1943799714987. Coincidentally both cars are the Gulf Blue color originally. Any help would be appreciated Eric 843 298-9677 or edl1@hargray.com

A few things that come to mind are signs of a rear anti sway bar. Also the bb cars had a 15/16 front bar, 3/4 for small block. Caps for bolting the 1/2 shafts to the differential, not straps. Pretty sure the bb cars had a 7 leaf rear spring too, not 9. Any hood on the roller?

Hi E,
Although it could certainly have been changed, a tach with a 5600 rpm red-line would indicate a 390 hp or 400 hp 427.
You might also check the tank to pump metal fuel lines. A single fuel line indicates a 400 hp or 435 hp 427 (Holley) while a fuel and return line indicate a 400 hp 427 (Q-Jet). But, they too could have been changed.
Regards,
Alan

thanks for the help -it has the 15/16 sway bar - 7 leaf rear spring - single gas metal line so my guess is that the PO was correct in calling it a BB - wish I had the original motor but it is gone.
