Default T-Top Repair

My 81 passenger side t-top has a problem.

The rear bullet (about 2 inches) that goes in a short plastic sleeve falls out of the enclosed section along with the sleeve it fits into. The end of the bullet is inside threaded and looks like it may screw into the rod that is inside the enclosed section attached to the t-top latch.

How do I get it back on or get it fixed. Thanks. This is my first vette project, ever!

there is a rod inside the t-top, there is a metal trim piece that is screwed into the top that covers the rod and mechanism, I think there are about 4 screws that need to be un-done to remove the cover and get to the rod.

The bullet threads onto the latch release rod. Check the end of the bullet. My hunch is yours is like mine; part of the threads on the latch rod have broken off in the end of the bullet.
