Plastic bumper years Now I know why

I am not partial to either front end. I thought the front end of the 80-82 complemented the rear upturned cover, kind of a sweeping motion from front to back.
Now, for my sans 'airdam' front end on my '76, it can get up my steep driveway with out scraping. Just my two bits.

I absolutely love the 80vette, I bought a 79, mostly because I didn't think I could get a better car for what I paid! If I wanted to put the 80 nose and tail on my 79, would that be crazy ??

The 80 tail would be easy and relatively cheap and is commonly done, but the 80 nose would require the entire front clip, bumper, fenders, and hood and even then it might require mods to the understructure to bolt it on.

80s look like a hoover with that nose sticking out 2.5 miles. But I totally understand how the greenhouse guys get so irritated - they get all hot and bothered in their bubble gum machines so they look for reasons to hate on the flat back glass (and the cool guys riding within the car - cool as in not-cooking in a greenhouse).... I like bumper cars, but only 73 bumper cars.... I think the styling on the nose of the 68-72 (with the useless, huge-by-large grills) looks like it's missing a few teeth.
But why stop there? I've only irritated the bumper guys and the 80-2 guys...
I don't like the 74s because they have a crack in their .... well.... tail, much like a plumber's. The 76-79 cars, metal floorboards? really? and with the goofy, Vega-inspired interiors... I can't understand why anyone would ever buy one of those
Did I miss irritating anyone? if so, sorry for the oversight - maybe in my next post I'll getcha covered

Outside of the extra fibreglass at the front, I really like the marker / blinkers on the 80-82!
I don't feel like I'm in a greenhouse either.
There are small things I like about all c3vettes, I guess being a child in the early 80 s, those cars are what I had on the posters in my room, 80-82. And that's why I'm partial to them.

Me either. That's one of the things that appeals to me specifically about the 79, the extra glass. The rounded look gives it more of a spaceship look compared to the notchbacks. Makes the car look more luxurious and jewel-like and also better shows off that gorgeous interior.

I like both rear window styles personally, and '80-'82 convertible conversions really look great

Actually, so do I. For several months when I was looking for a Corvette I couldn't decide between a 68/69 or a 78/79. I spent a long time looking at the back windows of each trying to decide which I liked better and was never able to pick a preference, there's a lot I like about both. Ultimately the deciding factors were the interior and number of power options with me prefering the many options and interior of the 78/79 a great deal more than the sparser options and interior of the 68/69.

1980 was an ohh ya moment when designers finally realized plastic bumper covers could actually add to the styling and help cooling of the motor ....... All other years prior , well they are tossed together to comply with a 5mph government imposed impact rating

In my subjective view, 80-82 looks good, but only from few angles. 68-73 looks good from any angle. However, in most of the cases, I see guys falling in love with the year of the car that they can afford. Then they talk themselves into reasons, why this particular year is better. Most plastic nose owners secretly want to get a chrome bumper, most chrome bumper owners secretly want to get a midyear. Most midyear owners secretly want to get... another midyear, I guess!
