Default 17" wheels for a Pace Car.....

Since I cant get decent 15" tires, Im looking to upgrade to 17 or 17/18 wheels.
Here are some photoshops...looking for ideas...
Stock:

Also consider these:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/18X8-5-19X10...item25683240b1

or C4 ZR1 Style:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/17-Inch-Matt...f216ec&vxp=mtr

If someone wanted to photochop these Id appreciate it....

Other ideas?

I have to agree those wheels just do not go with your car .

The only style I really like on these cars are the Cragar style wheels I think some gunmetal or black Coys C5s would look great

Skip the 17s; keep shopping for 15" tires.

I think the wheels you used were fitted with extremely low profile tires. Personally, I think the C3 looks better with a little more rubber. If you look at various tire sizes, you will find that the stock C3 overall tire diameter was about 27". A 235/55/17 and 255/55/17 both have 27" overall diameter. Also give the tire more sidewall than the really low profile rubber in your pictures.
I too am stepping up to a 17" wheel. They are on order now, but I won't see them for another 2 months. I'll be using the 235/55/17 rubber. Its plenty wide enough, and I don't want the tire sticking out of the wheel well.

Why are T/A radials not decent?

I think the TA radials and Cooper are my only options.
I was hoping for a stickier more modern tire, but unless I can find wheels that dont make me cringe, these will have to do....

Depends on what you're doing... if you're just cruising the car around, T/A radials are more than adequate. The dry grip is pretty good too.

Take a turn, though, and watch them tuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

I have photos of me driving the 78 on my computer at home and you can see the tread shifting at least an inch, and that's at a relatively low g-force load, compared to what a modern car can bring.

You can see in this older photo of me racing my previous Z06, that there's minimal tire tuck - even when generating enough force to lift a wheel.

While they won't compare to modern 18" rubber, you would likely notice some improvement by stepping "down" to a fresh set of 245/60R15's. In any event, lowering that nose ~1" would certainly help, not to mention look better (regardless of what's "correct").

the Torq turst 2.1 would be my pick from the listed rims, Somebody mentioned the super low profile tires on the photo shops and I agree that it looks messed up. Also if you plan to replace the stock rims keep in mind to save some money on a break upgrade (unless done already)
Nothing like a 4k rim+tire combo with stock 70ties breaks- everyone will pay attention the the misfitted breaks...( in reference to rims)

For "cruising around" like I do the T/As are fine. For more aggressive driving there are good suggestions here, and in the archives.
