Default Burnout

I tried to do a burnout in my 75 stingray (project car) but when I floor it, it stalls. I can rev it up high in neutral but not in gear. Once it gets going it has a bit of power... Does it just need a good tuneup?

Edit: perhaps burnout was the wrong word... I just want to spin the tires a bit, but that's aside the point. What do I do about the engine dying? How do I check for a vacuum leak? Or maybe it's an accelerator pump issue?, how do I check that?
It has a 350 with a turbo 400.

75's are the dogs of Corvettes. Probably the least powerful corvette ever made. Not knowing how many miles you have on it, L48 or L82 or even a non-original motor, or gear ratio you have in the rear end, you most likely will need more than a tune up.
Start with that, but if you want to do a block long burnout, think about dropping a crate motor in it or atleast an overhaul of the current motor.

Get ahold of Lars' tuneup papers and get a good tuneup on the car. Need a little more info on your car as well.

On the top red banner, go to "Other" "Tech Tips" "C3" and you will find the articles on setting the timing and adjusting your carb.
Welcome to the forum and good luck.

a stock 75/automatic won t do " burn-outs" without some help. GM used embarrassingly low out-put engines in them

It dosen't need a tune up, it needs more HP.

Doesnt matter what the output power is on the motor, if it dies when you floor it, then you need tune-up work

Possibly the accelerator pump in the carburetor. Low numerical rear end gears don't help these cars either.

Way back when, in about 1980, I did a burnout with my other 76 L82 (auto trans), had a hell of a time getting the tires to start spinning even with bleach - it was kinda underwhelming and was the first and last one I did, well with the Vette anyway. The 68 Charger R/T I had pretty much did it without even try

Back in the 1980 I had a friend with a 1968 Charger cast iron 4 speed LOL, helped him with a clutch it weighed a ton, he had max wedge heads, it was a beast
