locked my keys in my car
Any suggestions about what the best course of action would be? I have AAA, has anyone had experience with them? Or does anyone have any tips on how to unlock the door? It's a 1972 coupe.

The old trick was to pound your hand on the outside front and rear corners of the t-tops (where the latches are) and they would drop down enough you could work the latches open and the top off.

If you apply pressure to the top to compress the weatherstrip, then you can bump the top and the latch might fall- depending on how tight they are adjusted and if you have locks on them. Be careful if you have glass tops- you can break them like that.

AAA is definitely handy; but I've seen some of those tow truck drivers pretty much smash the window trying to get the wedge in. Doubt many of them have any experience breaking into a 40 year old car. Good luck

This happened to me and I had CAA (Canadian AAA) come out to try to get me in and they couldn't, so called a locksmith, he couldn't either...my condo keys were also locked in there...so the locksmith scaled three stories on a wall and picked my balcony lock to get the spares to both the Vette and the condo. Hilarious. Big tip. Anyway you can also use a slim jim to pull up on the lock rod...but man, it is hard, hard.

They're kind of tight but I'll have to give it a try in the morning. I was wondering if there was some way to pop the T-Top off. I was worried that AAA would screw this up which is why I'd rather give it a shot myself. Thanks for the tips guys.

I locked my keys in my C3 once, and it took two AAA guys, three hours (total including waiting time) to open the door. The first guy tried every trick in the book, for an hour and a half, but with no success. A few phone calls and more waiting, the second guy shows up, grabs a ring of keys out of his truck and just unlocks the door...........

Sorry dude, I couldn't resist!
Although I have no specific advise for your situation, I locked my keys in my vette once, and it was running! I was able to use a piece of metal fish tape poked through between the door glass and weatherstrip to push the power window button.
Good luck, and may the force be with you!

I found that the best solution is the use of the spare key!
I'm fortunate enough to have a wife that is in charge of the spare key as she knows its only a matter of time before I either lose the keys altogether or lock em in the car!

Just out of curiousity, have you tried a wire coat hanger to pull the t-roof lever down?
Once it pulls down you should be able to lift the roof off.
The weather strip on the back of the side window is quite plyable (sp?).

I tried it but the t-tops are tight and only bend the hangar.
