What type of sealant on Windsield
I removed the windshield from the wifes C3 cause it started leaking and found out the it had come loose on the top and sides. I noticed the bottom section of the windshield having a ton of sealant.
What type is it? Could i use 100% Black silicone?

The ton of sealant is probably because the screen on the C3 is not meant to sit close to the frame and is instead propped up by lashings of the stuff to get it to sit flush with the surrounding trim. You can get special windscreen sealant which will cure faster and set a bit more solid than just the generic black RTV silicone.

If your glass is good and you cleaned the windshield channel up pretty good, most pros will come out and drop your glass in for 50.00-75.00 with a leak warranty. IMO, its worth it, incase the glass gets broke, they have to fix it, not you. Good luck however you go.
FYI, cover everything, just to be safe. That urethane is sticky and like to stay on dashes and trim panels if it gets on it.

Hi D,
Regardless of who does the work they need to be careful that the windshield is spaced properly from the windshield frame so that the ss trim fits snuggly.
Too close to the windshield frame leaves a gap between the ss trim and glass; too far away makes it difficult to get the ss trim in place.
Regards,
Alan

I'm reusing the same windshield, The black painted trim on the bottom and side are coming off or are turning clear.Iis there a special paint to re paint the trim? A paint that would not affect the sealing?
