Update.... my 15 year old helped me get the steering column out, the left dash in, the top dash pad on, steering column back in, and the new windshield set! Next will be the T-top center bar and roof trims, as soon as they get back from the chrome shop! WOO-HOO!

Looks great. I'm partial to Steel Cities Gray. I had a Steel Cities Gray 72 for a daily driver in the mid 80's. It had dark saddle interior, which I believe is a somewhat rare color combination.

Update....
Got "FatMat" installed, with Reflectix going on top. Anxious to get the carpet in! Rather than do inside the storage compartment, I decided to put mat and reflectix on the back of the compartment doors. I`ll have to see how that works.
Chrome shop says my rear bumpers and roof trims should be here tomorrow!
Wife said, "At first I was jealous of her, because you were spending more money on her than you were on me. But she was ugly then. I don`t mind it now, because she`s really starting to look good!"

WOW! That Pewter looks exactly like Steel Cities Gray. But a "shark" should be gray, should`nt it?

It`s about time for an update.... I got the headlights in.
I made the bulb housing black instead of body color. I will be going with electric motors for those and the wiper door.
I moved the center grill forward, more in line with the other grills and front valance.
Rear bumpers and roof halo trims went to the chrome shop.
Got the new tail light lenses in. I`m going with 4 stop/tail lights, and will move the reverse lights to the license plate area with some LEDs. Side marker lights are now in, ralley wheel trim rings and caps are on, and the windshield trim and pillar post weatherstrips are done.
After the front air dam, and rocker trims.... I can start on the interior!

OK this just sealed the deal for me. I am working on a 72 SCG convertible. Was not hip on SCG until this post. I will go with the original color for my 72 with black interior and top. Nice Job GTO.

Ok oldgto,
You must have been reading my mind. I've never liked how GM stuck the center front grill sucked back in so far back betwen the other grills.
So did you make an extension mount that bolts to the frame and extends the grill out? How much further out would you say the front of the center grill is now? I have not modified mine yet but its on my list to do and yours is the first I've seen yet. ever.
Congratulation on your car. It looks GREAT!!

It was really much easier than that. I used the stock mounting bracket in the stock location.... with 4 inch long bolts and a spacer. I used a small steel tube as the spacer. (The small steel tube I found in the lamp parts section at Lowes!) Cut to 3 1/2" and painted them black.
Here`s a side view, looking down through the headlight opening....

Kevin.... you`ll see at the beginning of this thread that the car was painted red sometime in it`s life. The trim tag says it was originally SCG with black interior.... I really like that combo, so it was an easy choice. I think you`ll like it if you go that way!
