Why I have not been here recently
Some of you may or may not have noticed I have not been posting much recently and my 72 LS3 project has been stalled for a while. Well life sometimes does not go as planned. I have been having some personal issues, divorce and just recently some enviromental issues, Aka Sandy! This storm has just piled a lot more on my plate than I needed.
As some of you know the trials and happenings of a divorce and what they can do I have been gooing through this for the last few months. So I am no longer living in my house and it will be sold this spring, my Vette is still there along with my lift. I still have access to it but limited. My divorce has been going as well as can be expected and we have been very cival to each other so it should be over and done with early 2013.
Now Sandy has been another unplanned PIA. We have had a family beach house at the Jersey shore for a long time and Iam the care taker and pretty much sole person responsible for it. Well I did what I could to prepare for the storm but as many on Long Beach Island we got flooded. About 26 inches of water on the first floor. So everything on the first floor is trash. There is just a ton of devistation on the island and Ima part of it and it will require a lot of my time. Just waiting to see what the insurance companies do to possibly rebuild the pplace. Here are a few shots of the debris and destruction. I have since taken the sheet rock up to about 40 inches above the floor and everything below that is pretty much gone.
Now I'm not looking for any sympathy at all. Sometimes life just deals you a few blows. I am back on my feet and have some very good future plans for me, my Vette and the beach house. So all is good. Just wanted to let everyone know where I have been. I do lurk here a lot and still put out a few posts every now and then.

Hi gordon.
I feel for you man. Like the others have said, keep your head up, it will get better. It sounds like you have good plans for the vette in your future.

Hang in there bro, been there, done that. It gets worse, then better, then fantastic. I haven't been around much either, been very busy with work, campaigning, and another toy, but I do lurk too.

I truly understand your situation. No matter how amicable a divorce goes life changes forever in many ways. Been there done that. As far as Sandy goes many areas of Staten Island have been devastated as well. Fortunately I live where it's high above sea level so I had only minor wind damage but some of my co-workers and business associates endured the type of destruction you did. Very sad indeed. It's encouraging you have such a positive outlook. Glad to see you're back. Good luck going foward. I have no doubt in time you will get everything worked out.

Welcome back Gordon. Sounds like you have had more than your share of misery. You are due for some good luck. Through adversity comes strength. That will become clear in the days ahead. Best of luck with everything

Wow, lots of damage there. But look on the bright side it could have been worse. A lot of houses on LI & in NJ are completely gone.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Thanks for all the positive comments. Yes there is a lot of damage but I was very happy to see the house on its foundation. We were not allowed on the island for quite some time so I was very worried it was not there. The structure of the house is OK just the insides and sheet rock. All can be replaced. My boat which I strapped to the trailer was dragged across the driveway and put gently against the garage and side of the house. Surprisingly there was no damage. My neighbors boat was found 30 miles away on an island. His was not strapped down, just on cinder blocks. So I made out pretty good that way.
So I am pretty positive. I have a new outlook on things now and the Vette right now is not priority one. It is not going anywhere and I will chip away at its progress. I have to set up a new shop once my house is sold but I can also correct some of the things I always wanted to do. Things are looking up.

...is the beach house something you will end up with, something that your parents had owned? be great to see a garage thrown in there, live there with the Corvette...and eventually (sure it is furthest from your mind now) meet a nice cool younger girl to date and entertain there!
