We are sooo bored with all the 70's rock. I'm 53 and my shop partner is 49. We're at the shop every night and every weekend, with tunes going and if I hear 'Jamie's got a Gun' for the two-thousandth time, I'm going to scream! Same for 'Freebird' or Bob Seeger. Once in awhile, OK, but not everyday.
We listen to Nickleback, Five Finger Death Punch, Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed, Charm City Devils, Seether, Breaking Benjamin, Redlight Kings and a host of other 'new' rock bands and I'm telling you, it's great rock! The new one from 'Three Days Grace' rocks too. Yeah, it's primal, but that's what it's about these days.
You have to be exposed to it and you have to give it a chance. We're not the 'Old Generation' rejecting what's new, we're trying it out and we like it!

Man, Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson, Shinedown, Godsmack and many others just played the Mandalay Bay at Vegas a month or so ago, for the 'Rock Vegas 2012' festival!
I wanted to go sooo bad, but the C3 was sucking up all my funds (and time!) like a greedy Vampire beyatch, who you still have to profess love for, or suffer the consequences!

It took 12 years to get this CD out. And they look tired.
Steven's feet are almost 100% hobbled from years of "arena rock" in platform shoes.

I like the 90's alternative stuff, but even that got old. I went back to 70's rock. I never get tired of hearing: Rolling Stones, Ozzy Osbourne, or AC/DC. No matter how many times or how often I hear them, it always sounds great. I might try some of the new stuff mentioned earlier in the thread, I have just gotten out of touch with what is even out there. I'm sure there is some great stuff, there always is. The question is how long before you get tired of THAT music...
I'm really burned out on Aerosmith though, like 20 years ago...

There's so much excellent rock coming out and it ain't stopping, so don't worry about being bored.
For an intro to the new rock, I'd go with Shinedown's "The Sound of Madness" CD. Every song on this CD is excellent.
Seether, the CD: Holding on to strings better left to Fray. Great, great CD. Excellent musicianship, great song writing and singing, superb lyrics and you'll see yourself in a lot of the songs.
Breaking Benjamin. Shallow Bay, the best of Breaking Benjamin. All their hits and man, are they good!
Next, you might want to try 'Disturbed', the Sickness CD. Same thing, every song just blazes! One of the shop favs!
Finally, Ya might try picking up 'Avenged Seven Fold' "Nightmare' album too. Don't let the first song startle you, it comes on strong, but man, is it good. This album was dedicated to their drummer, the Rev, who decided to take the early exit off the planet... It is a pretty emotional album, but gawd, the guitar work is unbelievable! The fourth track 'Buried Alive' has to be one of my all time favorites.
NIGHTMARE!
Now your nightmare comes to life.
Dragged you down below
Down to the devils show
To be his guest forever
Peace of mind is less than never
Hate to twist your mind
But God ain't on your side
An old acquaintance severed
Burn the world your last endeavor
Flesh is burning
You can smell it in the air
Cause men like you have such an easy soul to steal (steal)...

I do not have an antenna in my 78, but luckily my radio picks up one station, 107.3 WAAF.

I tried Mp3's etc and I don't like listening to the "muddy" sound. The sampling rate is too low. Maybe it was just my equipment... but it's CD's for me.... until they go the way of the horseshoe. I guess most people can't tell the difference between sampling rates, but it bothers me. (I was a "professional" musician at one time)

I'm not as old as some of you, and don't take that as an insult, I'm around 30 and for the past couple yeas I've been going through the same thing. I thought I hated all the new music coming out and was listening to the same things all the time but I've discoved a program for my computer called "frostwire". Its kind of like the new napster you can dowload music for free. There are tons of great new bands and new songs. They just aren't getting played on the radio or on the TV or anything, you just have to search them out. Some sound like they are straight out of the 70's and 80's which is the kind of stuff I love. Keep searching guys you'll find some new music you will enjoy I promise.

Wow. I remember when Liz Wilde was there. I have met Hillman, LB, and Carrie several times at different events. Next year when I build my garage there will be a spot on the wall for the annual Mantown calendar.
Clams, Aerosmith is legendary, I saw them twice in high school.
