Default American Powertrain transmission group buy

I have ordered a TKO 500 with the rest of you who got in on the good deal group buy. I was having trouble getting an update about my order by calling and leaving messages. This past Friday I called and was put through to Gray Frederick, the CEO. He asked me to pass along the following to the group: At the present, there is a supply problem with Tremec because the big automakers are upping production for Mustangs, Camaros and Challengers. Since he is a little lower on the pecking order he is not getting the transmissions as quickly as he would have in the past. For information about your spot on the cue he suggested I email Josh who is the shipping guy at josh@americanpowertrain.com rather than leaving a phone message. So, if you're wondering what is up with your order, shoot Josh an email.

I called them on Wednsday the 14th, Paul told me that they had a 500 in stock but it needed to be set up for a c3 and would take 2 weeks before it would be shipped, I was going to put a deposit on it on Friday the 16th but then I saw this post and wondered why they would have one in stock if at least two of you placed an order for 500's and they have none to send you? Sounds fishy to me.

I got e-mail from Josh today saying that the 5009's have shipped from Tremec and he is expecting them this week - this is the .64 OD TKO600.
I am trying to change my order from the 5009 to the 4618 .82OD TKO600, so not sure when those are shipping. He did mention that the 5009 will be in before they will see 4618.

Spoke with him as well yesterday and got the same answer about my TKO600 (.64). Once they get them in, they still have to change the tails for the Corvettes, so still several weeks out...

They got around 15 orders from us so I think they will do the best they can to get them out as soon as possible. Kind of disturbing the wait but as long as we get them and their customer service if needed is as good as people say we should be fine.

Scroll half way down the page on link below. They are both 5 speeds and have different gearing (especially 1st - TK0 600 has two options for 5th). The 500 is rated for 500 ft/lbs and the 600 is 600 ft/lbs.

My understanding is the T56 is for a significantly modified motor (up to 700 lbs torque), it is also larger I believe and not as "bolt on". Below is the group pricing for the TKO 500 4spd to 5 spd and auto to 5spd packages (TKO 600 is $100 more).

-TKO 500 4spd to 5 spd complete kit is $3,181 incl shipping in the U.S.
This kit includes TKO 500 transmission, driveshaft, proshift 3 shifter mechanism, polyurothane mount, crossmember bracket, new needle roller pilot bearing, backup light harness, speedometer adapter cable, new speedometer gear, 5 speed console plaque, clutch disk, replica shift lever.

-TKO 500 Automatic to 5 spd complete kit is $4,600 incl shipping in the U.S.
This kit includes everything listed above plus aluminum bellhousing, billet steel flywheel, flywheel bolts, pressure plate bolts, 425lb rated clutch kit, mechanical linkage, pedal set and assembly, upper and lower shift boots.

just a quick question for the few that have paid for their kit, did you get any paperwork? I ordered mine on 2/22 and was expecting to get something via email, but nothing.

Jesse - I'm doing a manual change, from factory 4 to the 5 speed. I missed your question earlier.

I received a written quote prior to placing the order. Everything is listed on the quote. Then I made a few changes before ordering. I'm putting it into a Firebird.

At the time I ordered, he said it would be about 3 weeks...Yesterday was 3 weeks.

Kind of like the machine shop that said 2 weeks and I just got my engine back yesterday...after 2 months.
