Default 80' front bumper install problem

I removed the front bumpers and the metal bumper support to fix the support. Im trying to install the stock bumper but I have a 1/2" gap between the fiberglass and front bumper. The bumper feels solid and does not want to close that gap. Why is this? Where should I start looking to fix this? My only thought is to loosen all the bolts on the metal assembly but I lined it up with the previous marks.

Post some pics. It will be easier to tell you what you need to do. For now, it's anyone's guess.

Not sure but the metal backing plates for the front bumper are on the side with the nuts. It looks like you have the metal brackets on the side of the bumper instead of the car.

If not, loosen all bolts and push bumper flush with car, start at center and work to the ends

I loosened all 4 bolts on each side. At first it did nothing till I gave the bumper a strong shove out of frustration. .. the metal bracket moved upward and brought together the bumper/front end. Now to hold it in place and re - tighten. .. cross my fingers lol.
