To be or not to be / C3

I would buy the 82 and see if you like it for a few years. If you take care of it the value will stay in it.Then if you decide to sell it and buy a C6 ,the price of the C6 will have come down making it more affordable. No lose situation.

My goal is to have one in the next couple of months. Everyone has been very helpful and appreciate the info. Keep it coming as well.
One step at a time and the first step will be the 82 CE.

Guys check out the link. This is the 82 CE with 45k miles. Something wrong with the front spoiler. Once you look at the photo is that a huge issue to fix? This car will go up for auction in a couple of weeks. What is everyones overall take on it? Does anyone have the inside skinny on Mecum Auto Auction?

I guess I am curious what your purpose for this car is? Knowing that could make this decision a slam dunk.
I need a daily driver = C6
I want a fun weekend cruiser = C3
I want something with a warranty that I wont have to mess with = C6
I have lots of tools and love working on cars and have a place to store this thing while it is not drivable during my long winter projects = C3
I like to autocross = C6
I like to drag race =C3
I want a car that I can take to a car show and win without doing anything to it besides wash it = C6
I want a car that I can work on and take pride in as MY car = C3
I want a car that says "I have a great job and can make the payments on this baby" = C6
or
I want a car that says "I still listen to the Scorpions and drink MGD" = C3
All seriousness aside, a C3 takes commitment. If you are a mechanical type guy and love to work on cars, a C3 will provide you with endless fun. If you have to pay somebody $80 an hour to do all the repairs a 40 year old car is going to need then you had better really love that car.
I have had my car since 04. Lets be MEGA conservative and say, with paint job, motor, drive line and suspension, I have worked on this car on average 1 hour a week for the last 8 years. That is $33,280 in labor and does not include parts and parts mark up so add $10k and you have a $40,000 C3 that is only worth that to me. Is my arithmetic wrong? Probably, but you get the point. ( i wish i had a c6 too)

I'd say between $14K to $18K depending on bidding

http://www.mecum.com/auctions/lot_de...=HA0412-124229
With a little more miles at 85K, The one below went for $12.5K but, it is one superb clean machine!

Though, last September, this one went for $22K! Only had 22K miles too.
