Dropped My Car Off Today
So my painter called last week and said he had an opening is his shop for my car. I has planned to take it to him after Thanksgiving but hey we have a Hurricane on the way so why not...
Anyway after much deliberation and picking evry color of the rainbow at one time or another (well not really black, blue, or grey) I have decided to stick with the original color of charcoal grey. It just looks right with the red interior and after going to Corvette Weekend in Ocean City a few weekend ago and seeing so many black and blue ones charcoal grey is the choice.
He said he would need the car for two - three months to do it the way he wanted to and I am fine with that. That tells me he is going to do it right. He comes highly recommended and his shop is about 10 minutes from my house. He said I can stop by and check on m y car and take pictures whenever I want to so let the painting process begin.
This is what it looks like as of today when I dropped it off.(the way I bought it a month ago)

No cracks or bodywork just strip and paint properly. The last owner had it painted a few years ago and the guy did not prep it properly so...this is what happened.

I hope he keeps the car inside the next couple days! It's gonna be some crazy weather - I actually parked mine in a public garage here in Arlington - figure where I live all the big trees could easily do some damage they can't do in a garage!
Hope to see you and your car in the MD/VA show circuit next year :-) Psyched to hear about the paint and see after pics!

Is the nose cap salvagable?
By the way, 3 months is NOT a long time, not by a long shot.
Enjoy the process! Take lots of pics!

The car is inside his shop safe from the storm. It is an old 4 bay brick building out of the flood zone (I hope). I live one block off the Chincoteague Bay so I am in a flood zone. The car is safer where it is...
3 months is not a long time. I am happy he said that. If he said any less I would have kept shopping for a painter. I talked to many people and everybody said he is the best around. I saw two Corvettes he has done and they look good.
