dash question
I have a 1977 and I'm in the process of replacing my interior. I bought a 70-76 upper dash pad and installed it. What is the difference between the 1977 lower dash vs the 70-76? I'm curious if I should buy 70-76 style lower dashes or go back to the 1977 style?

The 77 dash is essentially the same as the earlier cars. The big change for 77 was the introduction of the new style center cluster and console. The 77 cluster bezel is one year only.

Lower dash pads are interchangable from '68 thru '77. The '68 dash pads were of different design, but would still fit correctly.

I did some additional research and according to Paragon the 70-76 dash is stitched where the 1977 is not. If that is the only difference it sounds like I should stick with the earlier lower dash panels for replacement, to match.
If anyone else is aware of any other differences I'd appreciate the feedback.

There's nothing to keep you from using the 70-76 dash top on your 77, unless your concerned about keeping your car completely original.
As far as the lower dash pieces, you need to use 77 pieces on a 77 dash. The center gauge bezel and console were changed in 77. The 70-76 lower dash pieces won't mate properly, to the contour of the 77 gauge bezel.

The 70-76 dash has a fake seam stitched across the from edge of the dash. The seam was eliminated from the 77 dash. 70-76 door panels also had a fake seam along the top edge, while the 77 door panels did not.
