Default L82 1979 - California

Hi all,

I was just wondering if the L82 1979 Corvette was ever sold as a new vehicle into California?

From what I understand only the L48 was available in California. Check the Corvette Black Book and you will see engine and carb options for California were only available for the 195hp option. The 225hp carb and engine options don't seem to have California codes.

However, is it possible that a California L82 was 195hp?

Checking both the Black Book and NCRS 1978-79 tech guide, neither in 78 or 79 were there L82s configured for California emissions.

Correct. No could get in Cali. If memory serves, the 4 speed was not available either.

Yep. The 78 L48 in CA was also rated at 175hp rather than 185.

To make up for it, you got 3.55 gears with the auto. Not sure what they did in 79.

Also, 78 L48s were blessed with an AIR pump (supercharger ) just like the L82s.
