Hooker sidepipe headers on a C3

I didn't think it was bad at all. (BB) I had the car on a Kwiklift, on the wheels (not jacked up)., I just rolled them in from the bottom with the clutch z-bar and starter removed. Stood on the lift and used my foot to help wiggle them into place. Note that I was just replacing the headers- the difficulty would increase if you have to remove the undercar exhaust first.
I forgot to add-- you have to have the ground clearance- the Kwiklift ramps are 18" or so wide so the headers rolled around over them. Without that, no go. I say at least 20" off the ground, and more would be better. The Kwiklift ramps are 20" off the ground.

I, like you, had heard horror stories about fitment and all, but mine were not too bad either.
Mine is Big Block without power accessories. I did have to drill out a flange bolt hole a little.
I wouldn't call it easy, but it's worth it.

Hooker sidepipe headers on a C3
Just put a set on my 73 BB. I had to use a grinder to the bottom of the flanges. The headers would hang up on the head bolts before grinding. They went on fine after that. If you have a stick then it is a good time to rebuild your Z bar with new bushing. I have 2 post lift so it was easy to get them up in place. I did not remove the starter but AC compressor had been removed by PO and I did not have deal with it. You can do it by yourself with some patience.
Good luck ! You will love them!

Be sure to get some spiral baffles to go with them. Nothing else compairs!

Did mine on my big block in about 3 hours. Be patient and just when you think its hanging up on something, a little wiggle and it slips in. I did mine with the vette on jack stands up front, maybe about 18-20" of clearance. and the front wheels off.

I can suggest a couple things to make things easier and save you some time.
1) Throw away the gaskets that came with the hookers.
2) Screw a couple of studs into the heads and slip the header on then start the bolts, then remove studs and start those bolts too. Much easier.
3) Don't use the supplied template to trim your rocker panels. Every car is different.
