Default front air dam need or fix?

i get car ready for paint and i was wondering whether i should spend $200 on new airdam and lower parts. or try to fix? its pretty messed up. but if its fiberglass i think i can maybe fix it

If its the original air dam, its made of a flexible urathane material. The after market stuff is fiberglass. Either way, you need to have it for proper cooling efficiency.

Actually... not really. I bought my 81 about a year ago, and it didn't have the center piece at all. I've been driving it daily, and I've never had a problem with it overheating.

Actually C3s are chin breathers, so most of the air must be channeled up to the radiator, hence the reason for the air dam.

Yep, you need it. Fix it if you can, replace it if you have to.
Most cars will heat up on the highway without it. Slow speeds not so much.

I'm telling you, this decision is totally up to the cosmetic desires of the owner.

I do want to replace mine, but my car hasn't overheated once since I bought it. It's been more than 100+, and I'm running the AC.

If he think it looks fine without it, it will not effect the radiator.
