Default Hello to a new member

I wanted to drop in and say hello to the members of the C3 forum. I just purchased my first Corvette and this looks like the place that will be able to answer any questions I may have. I'm sure I'll have all the "newbie" questions that you see all the time, so I'll have to get used to the search function.

Mine is a 1980 L-82.

Happy 4th of the July holiday to you all!

Michael

Thanks. I guess the first thing I need to do if find out how to post the pictures.

Then I'll do some research on how to make sure the windows and weatherstripping are correct so no water drips in the interior. I've got some gaps on the windows so it might just be a changing how the window rolls up and down. Plus my steering column seems to be coming out at an angle. It's good to have a to-do list.

Hello Mike,
Is your steering wheel pointed a little to the center of your car?

Welcome
Scott

Hi Scott. Yes, it's slightly pointed to the center.

I think you can scratch that one off your list. All C3 steering columns are on a bit of a angle. Your right hand will be slightly in front (closer to the dash) than your left.

Nice to know. Thanks for that Scott!

Any other "it's just the way it is" kind of knowledge I should know about?

I can not think of any but I would have forgotten that had you not mentioned it. These cars are pretty unique that's what sort of makes them fun. Have great 4th and enjoy your new ride.

Hi Mike,

Welcome to the Forum. I've only been here a short time as well, but what a great source of information and first hand knowledge. I've got a 74 Coupe I've started on and already have been in here rooting around trying to find answers. The folks here are very helpful and I'm sure I'll be back here pretty often. Good luck on your project and I'll try to get around to posting some pictures of mine as well. Regards, Brett

Greetings and salutations Mike. So ya got's yourself an '80, huh? That puts you at the head of the class because it proves ya got's some class. I'm presently restoring my second '80.

Thanks for the welcome everyone!

The first thing I'm going to be working on with the car is the door, pillar, and ttop weatherstripping. I'd like to have it where there are no gaps where water can get in and there is no air noise in the car from the gaps. From what I hear, the 80 had a problem with leaks.
