Default My lift in low ceiling garage.

I'm just finishing the final touches on my Atlas 2 post lift install. Since my garage ceiling is only 98", I had to make some modifications to get an acceptable height. I built two boxes in the ceiling, one for the windshield and one for the roll bar on my Cobra replica. I didn't make one big box because the truss between the two boxes is a "triple" I originally installed for my engine hoist and lifting other things, like the body for a frame-off restoration. Naturally, the triple would be right where I wanted to install the lift, and I didn't want to modify it.

A friend with bedrooms above his garage is trying to talk the wife into two large blue posts and a large night stand in the master bedroom.

I am pleased with the working height.

Ralph

No. I was just bored and didn't have anything else to do. Now I have to keep changing my oil forever.

Great job and tip Ralph! Hmmmm... My wife's huge walk-in closet is above my garage ceiling - will she give up that space for my windshield box frame ?

Did something similar when I had my boat. I wanted to fit my boat straight in. But would only fit when pulled in on an angle. (even had the trailer tounge swing away). So I cut a whole in the garage back wall for my motor to fit through. The other side is my office. I built a box and shelf system on the other side. Then years later I sold the boat and got the vette. Didn't need the box I made so fixed/repaired it back to normal. At first glance looks like you punched your car right thru your ceiling. LOL.

Awesome job! Would love to have a access to lift anytime I needed it - when you own a C3 that's pretty much every week

Now you just need a recording of wood and metal crunching so you can see peoples reactions as your raising the car.

I agree with the creative engineering post. By making the cutouts where the windshield would go you can have the lift and the clearance you need.

I am still thinking about the lift in my garage to add another car. Maybe I need to consider your idea.
