The currently available repros, are just a piece of flat insulation. None of them come molded. GM service replacement ones did come molded, but they've been discontinued for years.
Even when you could get molded GM service replacement ones, they weren't really correct for a 76-77. Since the late 70's, the one GM sold only came in the shorter length, that was used on 78 and 79's.

The 73-75, 76-77 and 78-79 hood insulation pads, all were originally molded to follow the contours of the hood.

ebay
Mine is like the one above...and I bought it on ebay. The same guy used to be on here as a vendor and may still be. It's some kind of aircraft high temperature urethane type closed cell maybe 3/16" thick foam. when I got mine the original underhood insulation was matte fiberglass fibers and had gotten dirty so I shifted to the better looking above...mine is the red car.
The fiberglass yellow is what it was when I got it and the neoprene/urethane is what it is now. Bad photo with reflection off chrome air cleaner top but you get the idea.

on ebay, type in corvette hood insulation and it will show different kinds. the ones above appear to be from the vendor that advertises his are made of aircraft material.
