Default what sidepipes do yall recommend

im looking to get sidepipes on my 79 vette but i dont know that much in way of brands. i want stainless steel for sure, and i like the look of where the sidepipe header's primarys and collector are seen outside the car, like in the picture below. all ive seen is the expensive hookers was wondering what brands yall recommend in way of price and looks. and also a great tone. car has a 383 stroker and i want a nice grumble on it.

I recommend building your own.......but, it is challenging and rewarding. Plus you get to do whatever you want. Dream it... build it.

Yup, that's what I run too.

In retrospect and if $$ was no issue, I'd seriously consider a set of Jere Stahl's side pipes and have Jet-Hot or equivalent, coat them. I'd be super-tempted to pick those, the next time I win a lotto.

I bought a set from Josh Powers...I found out later they were OBX but they are stainless all the way. They fit well and went on fairly easy and cost about half of the Hookers. The only thing I did not like was the "baffles" they installed and welded in. Very restrective. If you can order them without baffles and get some sweet thunder they are pretty nice. I ground out the welds and got the inserts...The sound is great!!

I think the company was called xs power.

I ordered the OBX Stainless side pipes off of eBay in late January of this year. I bought the ones without mufflers so I could try out different inserts until I found what sounded best for my application. They fit well though a few bolts are a little tricky to install and you'll probably need to do some trimming on the lower fender area and possibly the rocker molding but when it's said and done they are great. I would budget for a set of heat shields unless you can remember to be careful then you can get away without them but one burn and you'll wish you had the shields. My Youtube channel below has a few different videos using Hooker Max Flow inserts and now some VettePacks which sound great.

Hmm, might be something going on with my settings...where would this youtube channel be again? Or what settings do I need to change if that is the problem?

Email Danny Wong directly and you will probably save money vs. buying through ebay. I just did this and I got a set of stainless headers and pipes, shipping included for $650, that's less than 1/2 the cost of the hookers. Danny was great to work with but it usually took him about a day to get back to me so be patient. They only take PayPal and Money orders so be prepared for that. Mine are supposed to be here via FedEx on Saturday. Woo hoo! Too bad it's going to be a couple months before I can actually get them installed. Boo! Here's Danny's info (Thanks BOSTONCAMARO).

Be sure to post up at least some photos when you get the pipes and what your thoughts are. That price point is great.

I've had zero luck finding OBX headers in stock anywhere including on ebay as of late. So how you all are finding them is beyond me.

Shame on the USA for not building high quality headers like OBX at the same low price.

By the way, Hookers are manufactured in Mexico.

I've been looking for a set of OBX since March. Even after emailing Danny, nothing. Still on back order. Now that it's well into spring, I'm tired of waiting. I just ordered a set of Doug's headers and sweet thunder inserts from corvette central instead.

Oh but it's an appearance mod I want so badly! Grrrrrr!!

Damn that car is sexy!

The ceramic coated set of Doug's headers from corvette central came in today. Got them all mounted up, and everything fit and looks great aside from scratch or two. I suppose I can thank ups and its impeccable care of packages for that. The double wall box was pretty much torn to shreds
They sound great with the sweet thunder inserts. If I have time to finish up the details tomorrow I'll post a pic.
