I ran out of glue, so after work tomorrow I will pick up more, I should have it in in a few more hours. I took the time tonight to remove, sandblast, and re-paint the seat and seatbelt bolts. I used the hot bolt trick to make my bolt holes in the carpet. It worked great.
Can you elaborate on the hot-bolt trick? I have a guess, but needed confirmation.

Heat the end of a bolt and melt a hole in the carpet with it.

I prefer using a pencil-type soldering iron. But, I locate those holes first with a large needle...then mark the exact location of the hole.

I used an old screwdriver which I have ground down to a point to locate the hole and then my soldering iron to melt the hole. It makes a nice round hole for the bolt and melts the carpet ends which will keep it from fraying.

Bingo. I did use a pointed screwdriver to first locate the hole, then a 1/2" bolt heated to make the hole.

Hi David,
It sounds like you're making some good progress.
I smiled at your comment..... is a POINTED screwdriver STILL a screwdriver!?!?
Good Luck as you continue!
Regards,
Alan

I like cut pile because when it starts to look shaggy you can take a set of electric hair trimmers, with the proper attachment, and give them a good trimming and they look new again.

Thanks Slopoke... Yours looks awefully sharp too.

And thanks everyone for the input on the loop or cut pile... My choice is going to be the loop... It's just feels right for my ride. Pics to follow.

Clippers come with attachments to keep the height uniform. Just clip on the right one and go to it.
