FYI, This silver engine paint has been on for four or five years, and still looked pretty good. I recently pulled the engine to "fix" a few things and just freshened the paint up while it was out.
That looks pretty good, do you remember what brand and color of paint you used?

Actually, just recieved Eastwoods latest catalog today, and has a good selection of high heat engine paints, with nice aluminum and cast iron grays. Maybe something worth looking into.

I considered painting the block with an aluminum paint but went with this. I used silver caliper paint on my 92 calipers, and 4 yrs later they still look like I painted them. Just used stuff from the auto parts store.

Im going with an aluminum pump, and chromed or polished pulleys. Not the real expensive serpentine system. Just enough bling to dress it up. I'm considering having a little custom engraving done on top of the valve covers. Then painting the engraving to highlight it. I thought long and hard about using a polished intake, for now I'm sticking with what I have.

I vote for the aluminum color. I did mine that color and it kind of brightens up the look of the engine compartment. An added benefit is that it is easy to spot anything gone wrong. Use good valve cover gaskets and the Fel-Pro one piece pan gasket to keep it clean.

Good luck with build.

IMO Chevy orange looks great when contrasted with aluminum.

Personally, lately I like the industrial grey color that Greenwood painted his chassis and blocks. Easy to spot leaks, and looks very business, utility cool to me. The black color on the engines is the reason manufacturers went that way when silicone became more popular than gaskets, was to HIDE the oil leaks, that would crop up.

I think it's a Duplicolor engine paint. I picked it up at a local autoparts store. The heads are AFR 195's not painted, and the intake is powder coated metalic silver. Overall everything matches pretty well I think.

In the car,...can hardly even see the block.

Default Paint it what you want.

It's your car and you're the only one you need to please. When I started my retromod project, I wanted to keep the old school look with the new school technology and wanted to paint the LS2 Chevy Orange. People gave all sorts of opinions about what I should do. In the end, I finally pulled the motor (fortunately, the front clip's off so it was a lot easier) and painted it the way I wanted. The valve covers are wrinkle finish black.

The routing of the fuel line is not final and there's some slop on the power booster from spilled brake fluid - cleaned up now.

I decided that since you see EVERY part of my motor... i wanted it to ALL billet/chrome and aluminum looking. Basically, one big honkin jewel.

I think that silver looks great. It looks far better than the rough bare aluminum of a LS block.

Thanks Scott. I like it...and in the end, that's all that matters. BTW, I think every motor on this thread looks awesome...to each his own.

Just for dirt reasons, I would paint it black and use aluminum for highlighting parts for detail.
