1972 OEM Valve Cover Question
On a 72 small block corvette with original valve covers, can anyone confirm that the correct OEM GM equipment for a 72 small block would
have:
- steel stamped, painted orange valve covers
- Two steel tabs on the intake manifold side of the driver's side (oil fill)
- The oil fill hole is round with no notch for metal lid.
- Oil filler cover is black rubber material
- Pass side valve cover has the breather hole .. that's it.
- No metal tabs on the passenger side valve cover.
Is this correct?
I found a pair but the oil fill had a notch.. that doesn't sound right for a May 72 car .

Hi ps,
I guess it depends somewhat on what "late" production is.
For me, the first 25% is "early" and the last 25% is "late".
Since at this time there's no mention of VIN number for the change back to the metal oil cap, the covers could be fine for your May car.
Regards,
Alan
