my dayton unit doesnt have a light that i know of. (edit, i was thinking we had the same model, sorry cant help you)

Its no big deal youll need a 50 amp or so breaker a sub panel for the garage and some #6 wire and that will run your welder and your compressor (not at the same time) and even a small amperage heater.the home owner normally does not have to have a permit to do the work either.
