C'mon now...I know how much goes in to them. I know damn well that his car is worth waaayyyy more than $9k...Hell I've watched his Video of his car at least 3 times and would pay more than $30k if I had it to spend at the moment...But I don't

These cars are bottomless....we can throw however much money at em as possible...and they will still ask for more... like the plant from Little Shop of Horrors

All those wheels and not a looker in the bunch.

Now here's a nice looking wheel:

I will either go 17/11 rear no FLARES, or... 18/12 rear No FLARES.

I will post pics of the whole modification. I would like to see vettes with 18s only. dont have to be 12 inches wide.

post up please.

My setup is similar to friend RebelRob's, using Coy's model C-5 wheels with dark grey spokes. Running nearly identical sizes, 18x8 w/4"bs front and 18x9.5 w/5.5" bs rear. Tire sizes are 245/45 & 285/40.

There's more information on dimension issues that I dealt with in post #'s 27, 41, and 43 of this thread:

Good luck with your project, Tropic_Thunder. I'm in the same company to watch your progress and keep the pictures coming.

To each their own...
But try finding a performance tire for a 15" rim. Those truck tires are fine for going to the grocery store once a week, but not much else.

Definitely keep us updated on your pro-touring theme, Tropic. Id love to see what you come up with

I don't have any trouble finding performance tires for my 15" rims. And that's what my Corvette is, a grocery getter.

Much stickier tire. I also have painted the spokes of the rims with a gray paint. Just did not want all the shine.

what, if any modifications had to be done to body/frame/suspension to fit those wheels/tires. i dont usually much care for the large diameter wheel look on these cars but your car is freakin sweet! i want to do the same with the 78' i just got.

The O/P is asking for "C3s with 18" wheels only". Not sure how your 15" wheel post furthers this thread.
"not a looker in the bunch" a little harsh no?
There's nothing wrong with stock Rally Wheels or your choise of a custom wheel for that matter. It's just not what the O/P is asking for.

To the O/P check out the home page over at www.lateral-g.net and the wheel and tire section over at www.pro-touring.com for some additional ideas.

Sent you a PM on this. No body or frame mods done.

@DBOZ and others who PM'd about the paint color:

The color is House of Kolor BrandyWine (3 coats at 50%overlap) over Galaxy Grey Fine Metallic (3 coats) 3 clears over that. Based with HOK Silver Sealer.

Hmm, to each his own I guess. Some of us are on the other end of the opinion continuum. We see shiny, smooth, well made stuff & usually enjoy looking at it and appreciate the thought that went into it.

Tropic_thunder, If you havn't discovered them yet, there are a number of tire "calculators" online. I used one to figure out the set of BFGoodrich tires on mine:
FR: 255/45ZR18
RR: 285/40ZR18

This puts the overall diameter of rubber and wheel at just about exactly where it is at the factory.

What wheels have you narrowed down to?

Thanks!

The color is MSG. (medium sprial grey metallic) Factory color for a couple of year on the C5 corvettes. And yes 18's all around. 18x9.5 in front and 18x10.5 in the rear. With the wide front/rear tires it's fun to keep on the roads around here that have smaller tire grooves worn.

In a few months it will be back on the road after some work, including getting lowered a bit from where it is in these shots.
