replacing spark plugs and wiring
So how much would you charge to have new wires and spark plugs installed on your vette. Not including parts. And to properly label them too.
My shop guy worked on mine, but told me it took him quite a while to do that on my '78. I couldn't have imagined more than 1 hour for a professional.
I get the car and my bill tomorrow, hopefully he didn't rip me off since we didn't have an agreed price ahead of time (yeah I know it's dumb, but please put this aside and don't tell me that's what ya get for letting a shop do work, etc, etc)

Changing spark plugs is hard and frustrating with all that shielding in the way. Is there some secret way to do this easily?
Try doing it yourself next time. My hands, brain, and pride hurt just thinking about it.

[Psssttt...] The 'secret' to installing spark plugs [et al] on a C3 engine is to own a lift.

I am a professional mechanic, and I didn't change the front 4 plug wires on my '73 because of the hassle running them through the shielding I'll change'em some day when I'm feeling very motivated.

The best way to do this is to remove the engine so you can get to everything. The easiest way to do this..with the engine in the car..is to remove ALL of the shielding. Then you can have access for doing the job right.

I did mine with a friend (very mechanically inclined) a couple of years ago it took well over 4 hours and it convinced my buddy tha he will never own a C3! Many beers were consumed! Good luck

I remember back in the day. I was a kid who worked in an auto plant, had a pile of money and a hot camaro. My hobbies were cars, motorcycles and working on my own stuff. My bank manager asked me if I would work on his 73 corvette. Plugs, wires, rebuild the carb. Oh boy was I stupid. I told him 50 bucks. How bad could it be? the car had ac. It was a bear getting at that passenger side bank, and I spent 2 days in his garage. I was a sucker. Anyway it all worked out ok for him, and my love affair with the corvette was born.

my shop guy said it took him about 4 hours, but he gave me a huge deal on all the work he did so i am really happy.
was just a lot up going up and down on the lift and keeping hands clean and keeping it all organized.
