Default Tach

I used a Dakota Digital tach interface. My harness had an input from the ECU. I converted my 70 mechanical tach with a 75 electric tach that plug right into the Dakota. You have to select the correct 4 cylinder cycle since the ECU puts out half the signal. It seems to work in line with my scanner, but I have to drive it still.

Ahh. That is right. I remember the switching to a 4 cylinder mode. I'll have to give that a try. Thanks

Gordon, not sure what tach you're running but I have an Autometer ultra lite #4498. For this model it calls to reduce the pulse by clipping the Brown and orange wires. Problem is, I do not see Brown or orange wires coming out of this tach.

Looks like I will be calling Autometer tomorrow.

Corey, these are the instructions I pulled from auto meter for the 4498. It says that you change the setting by way of switches, but it also says that it's factory shipped for use on 8 cylinder use. Check to see if yours is this way, if not it may be defective.

I thought I had the switches but couldn't see then until I removed the tach. They are really, really small and had to use a toothpick to change the seetings.

Finally able to drive the car today, tack is fixed and accurate. Tried to recalibrate the speedo again, still does not go too full sweep only 3/4, but if it's off it's not by much. I'll test it against my gps.

I did this 10 years ago ( Yikes ) with an LS1 & T56.
It's much easier now, back then there were very few parts being made for these swaps.

It's the best thing I ever did -

Happy Motoring

Glad to see the tach problem resolved. Now its time to drive and enjoy it. The ls motors are a really nice upgrade for the C3's

Im going tomorrow to have mine retuned, looking to gain a few more horses and clear up a few things in the current tune.

Put 40 miles on her today,.speedo is only off by maybe 2mph per the GPS, I can live with that considering the stock gauges in ourr cars are not terribly accurate in the first place.

Second the cooling system held up like a champ, most of the drive was moderate to having traffic. At one point I had to sit through 3 red lights. The temp never got above 205.

After 30years, paint is looking tired and is in for a nip/tuck. Project took longer that anticipated but they do fantastic work, paint should go on today or tomorrow.

Changing the color, will be quite a difference in hue.

...Seems like that long, that is for sure. Truth be told, I was driving it about 8months after the swap.....setup was a game changer for me,, I took the car down to the family shop around 3 years ago for paint and life got in the way and was delayed. I'm just looking forward to putting it back together and driving it again.

So looking back what are the pros and cons in your opinion of both powerplants?
