I was going to go LS2 until the LS3 came up. I did want the LS3 heads but the LS2 is a potent performer. Make sure yo uput in a cam, that really wakes up the LS motors. Even the LS7 can benefit from a better cam. My brother in law has an LS7 in his 67 resto mod and it made 540 rwhp wit hbasically a cam upgrade and tune. He is doing a differnt intake which should add another 30 or so HP. The LS motors really respond to breathing.

Yea, guess I could snap a few pick's, but the car I'm talking is actually a factory C6 ZO6. Dont think I'd be in any real hurry swapping heads and such on the LS2, as these really run from the factory. Keep in mind, even my LS7 car easily gets 25-26 mpg highway all day long. It's really mostly the tranny though with steep od 5th & 6th gears. Top gear cruising in 6th is only 1500 rpm at 70 mph. The LS2 does even better, so start messing with it, and milage is sure to drop. Plus your wallet's gonna get lot's emptier buying all these parts, install, tune, ext. My vote's for leaving it factory. For the price you're paying for the the whole thing, could easily double that in a hurry.

Congrats on taking the plunge! You wont regret it.
Let me know if there is anything that I can do to help out. Custom Image has done alot of these swaps and we have all the parts that you need to make the swap go smoothly. Engine plates, trans crossmember, clutch master cylinder, fuel systems, cooling systems, gauges, headers, exhaust, wire harness conversion and ECM tuning.
We also have a full catalog of go fast parts for that LS2 engine. Heads, cam, intake, throttle body, you name it we can get it.
If you have any questions about the swap please feel free to give me a call and we can chat.

"Josh" looks like he's got a pretty nice set up there. While you're not asking, here's a little more advice. Since you've already got a pretty nice set up in your car, set the LS2 aside for awhile, until you decide what you're really wanting to do with it mod wise. That is unless you enjoy pulling motors in and out all the time.

Corey, The jegs pan is too deep, it's the truck pan setup. You want a F body oil pan setup, it isn't as deep, there for you won't be dragging it on the streets. I bought mine through a GM web site, Can't remember the site though but it was around 200 for the whole setup. I'm told the bat wing pan will fit as well, this would be another option.

Have you tried the LS2 pan yet. With the Steeroids it provides more clearance than with the stock steering system.
I just went out and did some rough measuring with my car. I have the Steeroids in it. Depending on which motor mounts you use the LS2/3 pan looks like it should work. I measure roughly 14 inches from the back of the block to the Steeroids rack. The LS2/3 pan is roughly 13 inches from the back to the front leading edge of the sump of the pan. Unfortunatly my lift is occupied by another car at the moment so I cannot get mine up for better measurements. But looking at the car on the lift with standard steering system it does cut down on the clearance some. Maybe an inch or so due to the steering ram. I am going to try to use the LS3 pan that is on mine. Measureing the sump distance you definitly do not want ot go much more than 5 1/2 inches or so. It will hang down to low.

Gordonm and others, what is the difference between the Ls1 and the Ls6? is it just the cam or is there other diferences? I'm thinking about doing a Ls swap into a 73 Z28 I was recently given.

Borgeson box????

Why the Steeroids and not a Borgeson box? The latter will have even less stuff under the pan that either stock or Steeroids and fewer parts overall. And the box is no wider than stock, so header clearance should not be a problem either. Also a lot less money.
Just a thought.

The Borgeson unit still uses a drag link so it will be less than the stock setup but only slightly if any less than the Steeroids. Maybe a half inch, but that might also be the difference from fitting or not fitting. I wish I had mine out and could drop the LS3 in and check for sure. I'm still a few weeks away from that.

Burning Brakes
Well, some may think I'm crazy for not only pulling my BB/4speed, but pulling it after only 400miles for a low mile aluminum LS2/6speed. I bit the bullet and the complete dropout should arrive in one week. I'm sure I will missed the torque, but more importantly the sound only a Big Block can make.
Ls guys I'm all ears for your tips and info, reading the LS swap threads now.

I'm nowhere near doing an engine swap (stock 350/270) for a couple years, but I know I want fuel injection regardless if I stay with my original block or throw in a completely different engine.
I know me and I'll always baby my car so huge power isn't my top concern where as fuel economy and maintenance are. I'm more of a cruiser than a racer.
