Default Just got me an 81 vette

This is my first Vette, and seems to be a decent car. Needs little stuff, but nothing major for a 30 year old car. Has a 350 that owner said was stock, but think it may have a little cam (or maybe just a vacuum leak) haha. Traded my 2002 Dodge Ram for it, and little over an hour drive, not too bad of a deal. Will get more pics once I get her all cleaned up, but here is a quick shot taken with my cell in the driveway. thanks

Looks good.

Let us know what sort of problems you are having with the engine and what codes are coming up. Maybe we can give you some ideas to help smoother er out. The computer controlled carb system can be a good system, but it takes some finess to troubleshoot, that is, if all the original stuff is still in place.

Thanks guys...always wanted one and had to take the long way around to get one... Sold 76 T/A project...got dodge ram, then traded it for this car lol... as far as engine goes, its not the original (looks to be 87+ has center bolt valve covers), not sure about trans yet.

I am not sure if the computer is still hooked up or not...will be looking at it more tomorrow...It has stock exhaust manifolds with a true dual exhaust with flowmaster mufflers (unsure of series). Is a little louder than my preference, but will do for now. The reason I say i think it has a cam is cause it has a slight noticeable lope that is pretty constant, unlike a miss or vac leak. It needs some interior work and minor body work, but nothing I cant handle over time lol.

It was originally a Red (75) car with medium red leather(752) but has been painted a maroon metallic. thinking about going with a firethorn (taken from my 76 T/A lol) exterior and doeskin interior. but will figure that later on. The tires a little small (235/60/15) but planning on going with 255/60 (also what I had on my T/A)...

Will be keeping everyone posted with updates...along with more pics in the next week.

is it a factory hood or aftermarket? I have tried to find one like it online, but cant seem to find one...it has an emissions label on the underside, so just figured it was stock...

Looks like a stock 80-82 hood to me.

Congrats on the trade.

thanks guys...will be a great summer project and get it ready for next years car show season lol...

as far as the hood goes, here is another shot from the front...looks like an 80-82 hood with a hi-rise scoop added...didn't get a pic, but underside you can see in places were it was cut and grafted on (poorly)...the emissions label shows to be an 81 hood, so guess someone before needed more clearance or wanted the cowl look...Looks to be about 2" taller than all the other 81 hoods I have seen...

I just took alot of pics, but will have to wait till tonight to post them...will post a link on here once I have them all separated...tanks again guys

How in the world did the PO bust up the headlight cover like that?

Judging from the scrapes, looks like he drove under something (semi trailer rear bar?) and the headlight cover caught and snapped.

Congrats on the vette! What a great trade too!

i was told his daughter was backing out of their driveway and didn't see the vette and caught it with the rear bumper of her truck...You can see some scrapes on the nose, so it could be the truth...no big deal though, gonna be a little while before I can "legally" drive it lol
