It still has room for the T Tops underneath. And has a small amp inside the enclosure. My Sony head unit has a sub woofer output.

This enclosure works great. Brightstar audio I beleive, $100 or so. 8" Infinity sub, 6" x 9" JBL 3 ways, all powered by a JBL 3 channel amp mounted on a small no tools needed removable shelf over the jack. Leave the cables a little long, open the door and pull it all out and get your jack if necessary.

Awesome sound. Flip out DVD / FM / CD player with aux / usb input. My daughter watches Disney movies when she's along, or if I'm alone I can pound Led Zep, Tool, old VH, etc. T tops fit and the restraint still can be used.

Those are some nice set ups. When I bought mine it had a Kenwood tapedeck and some sort of top mounted speakers.

I replaced the entire system with an Alpine CD player and mini-amp, Polk 4x6s in the dash and I bought some speaker pods off ebay for a Polk 6.5 component system for the rear. It sounds decent, there really isn't any bass but I will take care of that next year, its lound and sounds clean so I can deal for now.

I will probaby have a box made over the winter to have a sub mounted at the top of the rear cab firing down so I can still have room for my t-tops.

Here is my current set up:

I've got a similar set up with a 10" RF sub, I mounted my amps behind the seats cause I'm short, lol. Got a 4 channel Sony for the 6x9s and the plates, and an RF for the sub. Plays clean and loud.

The same seller has a few different speaker/subwoofer combinations available. This is the one I bought and installed two Polk 6x9s and a JL10" low profile sub. It sounds great, and all 3 speakers have similar looking black mesh grilles that don't look out of place in the car.

I put them in the cases and can stack them on top of each other in the back.

I have a box I got from ebay. 2 6x9 and 10" sub. My T tops don't lay flat in the back. There is a small ledge in my 78 behind the seats. T tops have to be stood up on edges to fit and then they block the speakers. Going to redo next winter and ditch the box. Build the sub box for the storage compartment and mount the 6x9's back in the corners.

This was the answer I was looking for. Conflicting answers through this thread on that they fit and don't fit with this specific sub box. Not sure what to believe now... I know with my two speakers shown on my picture above they barely clear, and have to be put at an angle.

They'll fit, but you have to turn them so that the shorter sides are towards the wheel wells and then stack them on top of each other. I put them in the leather cases so that the one doesn't scratch the other when they're stacked. Not being able to fit them in the back would have been a deal breaker for the box, but they fit just fine. They also don't block the speakers.

I've found it's best (at least for me) to put bass blockers on the front speakers and then put a low pass filter on the rear speakers and the sub. That way, the sound stage is still in the front and luggage doesn't block the high frequencies normally present in the rear speakers without a low pass filter. Bass frequencies are non-directional and not easily blocked by luggage, so my stereo always sounds like the music is in front of me no matter what I have in the compartment behind me.

Edit: in 81pilot's picture, you can see the straps can still be used. It looks like madmachz's picture shows the t- top bags lying in front of the box, showing that the tops will fit in front of the box.

I don't care how you stack or turn the T tops. They don't lay down flat in the back of my 78 with the speaker box, and the drivers and passenger seats all the way back. Don't know if my box is deeper than most seen in this post, I doubt it.

You won't have to worry about T tops fitting with that set up, or any luggage either.

Got my box delivered today and just sat it in to see the fit. No luggage will be needed(no overnight trips. If so I will only have one change of clothing) and I have glass tops with storage bags that will fit on top of the Box as seen in one of the pics with the fiberglass ones. Still have storage compartment access. This will work fine for me.
