Many owners of the 'newer' Corvette models are not really "car people". They just like to be 'seen' in their expensive, nifty, new car. They never wave at C3 owners...or C2 owners...or C1 owners....or just about anyone else. They are not ALL like that, some of them are really 'car people' and own other older cars or have owned them. You can tell them from the others because they wave at you and talk to you at car shows (rather than just sticking in their little clique and ignoring everone else ).

If you think I sound bitter, I'm not. Frankly, I'm very happy that those kind of folks don't bother me and stay to themselves. It's really their loss. Sharing with others what you know and what you drive is at least half the fun!

I actually wait now when a C5/6 comes up to see if they wave first - just got used to a lot of wtf, who was that expressions on their faces when I wave first.

Default Save The Wave

Just keep waving, you know what is,you never know when they figure it out they may get educated on the wave. You will know the real Corvette people when they wave back!! Do not let your heart be troubled my them, you could always go into the alternate mode of waving from a whole hand to the single finger wave if it would make you feel better as a stress releiver at the moment. The sum of it all is the newer Covette owners today do not really know the history of the Corvette and its people who have made the car the icon it is today.

I just recently bought my first Corvette and on the second day out with it i had a few different c5/c6s wave at me. I thought maybe they knew the previous owner since I bought it local. But after the 3rd one waved I figured it is a Corvette thing, just like riding a motorcycle. (kinda feel like a jerk for not waving back) Since I realized that, everyone thats met me on the road around by me has waved and I waved back. Its a nice feeling to know theres people out there that enjoy the cars more than just having them to make their ego a little bit bigger.

I always wave at any corvette regardless of year. I dont even care if they wave back or not. If they dont I just figure they are not real corvette people, or they were not paying attn. no biggie.

I think its in the blood. Yesterday I was in a parking lot driving to get out and a man with two kids came walking into the lane. The two kids looked like a boy 4, and a girl 5. The girl immediately started pointing and walking straight at me and the father pulled them to the side and as we passed she gave me a thumbs up and said nice car. I knew right then she was going to be a corvette fanatic. So I believe the real fanatics have it in their blood. The corvette is the ultimate dream car that has been dialed in from the beginning. Where your dream began is the vette you longed for. When you seen your first vette it was instant because you were already longing for something similar, there was no groing on you type thing. All corvettes are great and the owners for the most part are following their dream.

I've said it before: you guys just don't wave right.

I wave at all kinds of cars. Anything I like, I wave, sometimes even including motorcyles. Almost always, people wave back. Sure, sometimes they don't, and I figure that most of the time they didn't see me because they were too busy texting, talking on their phone, doing their make-up, or actually focusing on driving their car, and they just missed it. No biggee. When I am out in my 'vette, the only thing that bothers me is when I miss a shift, or hit a pot hole too hard, the rest just gets smaller in the rearview mirror.

It makes me feel good when someone waves at me in my vette ... so I wave at just about any cool looking car that I see on the road ... I am just returning the favor ....

When Im out I wont even acknowledge a C5-C6.If Im parked somewhere and somebody wants a conversation I can talk to somebody but wont go out of my way to talk to one of these guys.I bought my first Corvette back in 1986 and if the wave is dying its starting with the C5-C6 snobs.Hell,I dont even look for it anymore.

I wave at all generations even when I'm driving my C6 Z06. About 1/2 of the C5's and C6's wave back when I'm in the C6, so it's not a generation thing it's an enthusiast thing. It doesn't really break my heart if they don't wave back. I've been waving for 40 years and it's always been about the same. If I'm in my solid axle and pass another one (which is rare) you can count on a wave.

It is a mixed bag. Some wave at me. If they don`t, I figure what the heck. I have a more interest in vettes in general than you do . All you did was pony up the bucks. But to own something older and classic, you have to invest your heart and soul.

I look at it like this...I am waving to appreciate the car, not the owner but many people might not think the same way.

Who cares.

I never initiate a wave but always wave back.

I always wave at Corvettes (or hot rods/street machines) regardless of make etc. as long as they're Cool
I always give the "NOD" to other bikes (when on my Kawasaki Ninja 1100),
sometimes they nod back, sometimes not.
I especially love giving the "nod" to Harley riders,
cause they generally ignore any bike NOT a Harley (and it pisses them off)
