Conversion to a t5 manual trans from a t4
I am considering upgrading form a manual t4 which just crapped the bed on me to the t5. Any suggestions in doing this and what kind of clutch should I use. I have a 1980 Corvette with a new 383 stroker motor. Also can you direct me to where to find the trans and clutch? Also the current t4 is a bog warner and the existing clutch is very stiff with a heavy return spring to stop it from sticking.
Thanks in advance for the advice

I would suggest that a T5, even a world class T5, won't last very long behind a 383 unless you drive it very gently. I would suggest a properly built T10 at the least.

I put a WC T5 in my 68 and love it. The main changes are shorter driveshaft, reworking the T5 shifter location to look correct in the console, if that matters to you, the rear trans mount, and the exhaust mount. I put a post out on the complete swap a few months ago with tons of detailed pics of the alterations. Just do a search and you will find it. Good luck.
