Default Rocker Molding attaching - 73

OK - so my rocker moldings/panels need new attaching 10-24 screws and special nuts (I know, available at the normal suppliers).

How have you guys removed the old rusted nut plates? Do you just drill them out? Hammer them out? Mine are rusted in there pretty good. Of course all the screws are broken off in the nut plate...

Would appreciate a tip on a successful process for this.

thanks

I never had to remove mine. I just had to clean up the mess that the guy who did it left it like. Here is a bump for your question. Good luck.

I had to remove a couple on my 73, I just carefully drilled out the old and put in the new, easy job.

Hi u,
On my 71 I drilled out most of the broken off screw with a slightly undersize bit, and was then able to pull out the remains of the screw so that I didnt even need to re-tap the nut plate.
Not as bad a job as I'd feared!
Regards,
Alan
