Default My "New" 1982 Corvette Restoration Thread

Yeah, I cant help the addiction, especially when a super good deal comes up. Brought it home last night (thanks to the amazing help of Bill Wilkins (TexasWilkins here on the forum) and his trailer and diesel truck).
Regular 1982 Corvette.
Silver on Charcoal 2 tone paint
Silver Leather interior.
Totally original.

Here are some pics for you guys. I havent even washed the car yet, so it will look a little better tomorrow:

no, I wont be parting this one out, but the goal will be to get it running and driving, and look a little better inside and out. I will be posting updates here on this thread.

well between Mike and Bill, I think I can get all of it figured out. Im actually researching that now. I hope to get the 77 cut up soon and gone, and then we will have one less car. As for now, our neighbors are very gracious lol

Dude, you guys are "slap8up" with it, you know that, right?
I would have passed on this one, unless to part it out. Good luck!
IF YOU DECIDE to part it out, I want first refusal on the tranny, crossmember and driveshaft.
I would bet in a few months no one will recognize this one after ya'll get started. Good luck.

Looks like a nice project....and your right, other than some sheilding everything seems to be there in the engine compartment.

82's are great cruisers and I really enjoyed mine for the 5 yrs I owned it.

Here's a pic of the engine on my 18k mile 82CE......something you could shoot for.

Why would you have parted it out???? There isnt anything wrong on this car to justify that...

I was glad to help and it gave me a chance to use my cool new trailer. I still think your new car will run with just a little wax. Charge that battery first though, mine doesn't like a low battery. Come on over and dig through my stuff when you are ready. I'll be over you making me stay out so late pretty soon.

Simply b/c it appears to be TOO much for ME......It got me at the left rear fender glass.......... that would have been a show stopper for me... But am sure you guys know what to do about that. Good luck. Anxious to see the "after" pics.

You are a brave man with deep pockets if you are planning to restore it. I see $1500 - $2500 in interior, $8K+ in body and paint, and probably $500 - $1K in engine misc once it is all said and done. You must have gotten for $500 to get it because I would have walked away too for anymore than that. I vote for parting it out so other cars may live on. Good luck in whatever direction you decide to take her.

Don't listen to the naysayers Ben! I started with less, and it's coming along (slowly). You'll be happy with the finished project I'm sure.

Update number one:
So i got about an hour this morning to work on the car. I decided to quickly wash it, and then pull the seats and finish cleaning up all the trash that was in the car.
After getting the seats and nasty carpet out, I vacuumed out all the trash that was left in the car.
Here are all the good stuff I found in the back

Once I got everything out I ended up finding $5.65 in change. thats the most Ive ever gotten "paid" to take seats and carpet out of a corvette.

I also found all these beer caps and broken beer bottle pices under the drivers seat. Looks like someone had some fun in this car

Here is all the trashed interior pieces that came out of the car today:

My drivers power seat looks really great underneath:

I also found out that my car had a CB radio at one time, but the entire thing is broken and the radio is missing.

I also was able to get a good look at the floors. i thought before hand I was going to have to change out both floor pans, but the drivers side is super solid. The passenger side (see pic) is another story

I got your PM and sent an answer. I'll get you some pics and a list of everything else other than interior that I still have if you're interested.
Here's my before and after 28K mile engine compartment.

My 82 was pretty rough when I started, but I think you got me beat (by a little)

I guess most of you guys dont know what a real rough C3 corvette is. Being in the parts business, you come across alot of crap. This car is in amazing shape for being all original

Anyway, after a new battery, fuel filter and pump, it seems like the engine is still not getting any gas. It cranks just fine, just wont fire. When we spray soem carb cleaner down the throttle bodies it fires right up. Tomorrow im going to try to figure out whats preventing it from getting gas. Clogged injectors?

Also with the new battery, I was able to install all of the missing and burnt out bulbs on the inside and outside of the car. I also added the missing dome light cover. All these parts I got free from my parts cars.
