Isn't that the truth...
I think I'll go out to the garage and see if I can draw some blood myself.

I had a Board Certified Surgeon from Tulane do this to me with a cork holding a red hot paperclip back in maybe '68 when I dropped a Hemi head on my finger. Worked great! When I asked him why they did not have some fancy tool to do this, he said that he did not need a fancy tool, that this worked best!

Nice wow'ie, but I don't think the above technique need this treatement...(lookn at your pic), you'll find out tonight. When your layn' there in bed and it's throbbing!

Happend to me in the oil patch...smashed it pretty good. The guys were telling and describing the above fix it. My reply was...yea right... I don't think so.

That night, it got worse...everytime my heart beat, it hit my thumb, and hit it hard! I got up...lookn' for that paperclip and lighter. Instant relief!! Muddy

Don't bother getting an X-ray if you can still move the joint. Even if it is broken, the medics won't do anything for it.

If you smash the little toe same side you'll forget about the finger for a while.

You'll most likely lose the nail. I've lost both thumbnails over the years working on cars. They grow back. While the nail is gone that area will be real tender and you will bump it into something every chance you get.

Get the pain over with quickly by relieving the pressure with a nail gun.

You'll want to sterilize the drill bit first. But I've done it and it works and doesn't hurt.
