Not sure on the "official" size but I bout red pin striping tape at the auto parts store and it was about 1/4 inch and it was almost the exact size left on my wheel. It turned out good an you can't tell unless you touch it.

I don;'t have a close up and yes there is a Pace Car in the picture!

My Pace Car is in for paint so I can't go out and measure, but after spending about 3 hours on each wheel cleaning and buffing i would say 3/16 to 1/4 in. sounds about right.
My car looks a little blah and boring after seeing your picture. I wonder why?

Default Pace Car wheel stripe size? Reply to Thread

My Pace Car had a few spots on the wheels were the red stripe was worn off and I took a different approach. I found a red paint stick at a hobby store (Testor's brand used to paint model cars) and I simply used the paint stick to retrace over the original stripes.

It took a lot of time, beer and a steady hand (related to the beer), but they turned out pretty nice and because they are painted I think they are pretty durable.

That's nice and I love the curves...and I'm not referring to fiberglass.

Have you thought about Kelsey's Good Year P255 reproductions?

If no one comes up with the width, I'll take a picture of mine next to a tape measure...it might be 3/16"

I did not not know those even existed? I tried the website but could not get it to load? What is the cost of them? I bought these about 2 years ago and they get hardly any wear since i drive it about once a month. I wish I knew about them when I bought these.

Here is a cool tool however expensive. Looks like a 1/4 inch wheel would cost an extra $26. After you do yours, place an ad and get some other work. Everyone nowerdays likes that different color stripe on a wheel.

Ok...here's a photo with a tape measurement and it comes in at 3/16" Note how the width in the photo is not consistent. So this was not precise work. I've seen the Buegler pinwheel suggested before and that's the route I'll take as well.

You haven't been reading the now defunct Corvette Enthusiast. The Kelsey P255 was featured in this article and includes pricing.

I have seen pace car wheels with a red stripe inside a groove and some without the groove. Which one is correct.

My wheels had little grooves all the way around the wheel. I assume the is was to help hold the paint.
