More Cool Pic's I found too
These were sent to me by a friend. Its Zora in 1969 at a GM test track they were building in Ca. They were testing the new 1970 line up, LT1's and the new Camaro. The other shot is Paul Newman walking around looking at the cars too. Pretty cool pictures.

A friend of mine bought a 70 LT-1 that was the first pilot LT-1 made, it was Ontario Orange which they never produced. One of the old GM guys he was talking to about his car sent him these pictures to him. He told him his car was there while testing.

Great pictures! Thanks
Does anybody know how Paul Newman wound up there in the 1st place?

I thought when I read your post..hmmm I wonder if it is upside down....or not..
I have a original 73 with the original coded mirror....and unless they wrote the code on the bottom of the mirror upside down...then mine was upside down which is NOT like the this picture shows.......I think this is correct, but all you can see is your door handle and part of the rear quarter...much better view if it is upside down.... I think we have turned them over so long that wrong looks right...
Always wondered what the writing on the bottom of the mirror was...it looked like some computer code....it actually says.. 10-DMI-2 when it's right side up!
Zora probably would have said.....who the heck turned my mirror upside down and fired them..

To the OP,
Could you take a look at the orange coupe in the second photo of your original and see what position that mirror is in? I can't make it out on the picture in the post because it loses some clarity when posted online. It would be interesting if it, too, was upside down.

Hi LPE,
VERY interesting photos!!!!
Thanks for posting them.
Regards,
Alan
The MIRROR... the 71 Owner's Manual has 1 picture of the mirror; it's the 'up' position. The Corvette News debut issue for the 71 model has a convertible on the front cover and coupe on the rear cover with it 'down'. There are 3 pictures inside showing cars with it 'up'.
So...?

Jerry 9170, I am the one that read something years ago, when Zora was talking about unsprung weight. I admit the P01 and P 02's look cool. But have you ever picked up one of these? They are about 12 1/2 pounds. That is 12 1/2 pounds that the wheel really does not need for spirited driving. That is why he suggested the trim rings and caps, insted.
