Default locked front caliper

i was driving the other day when the drivers side front caliper lock up on me, had to jack the car up and open the bleeder to get the caliper to release. Anybody know what could cause this?

Are your brakes manual, power or hydroboost?

Did it let off at all when you turned the engine off?

Sounds like that rubber brake line to that caliper has cracked inside and is acting like a one way valve.

If its only one wheel and cracking the bleeder let the pressure off then it sounds like your rubber line at that wheel needs to be replaced.

Bad brake hose on that wheel is 1st choice here and agree with the others that said so.

If any modifications to that caliper...check that also.

Then I'm with the rest. Probably a problem with the brake hoses. I wouldn't change just the one either. Splurge and get the stainless, braided ones.

Have you replaced pads recently? Within a couple days of replacing the brake pads on my Bronco one of the calipers locked up. Compressing the piston pushed it into the rusted section.

I dont know if there is a way to tell, but are all the pistons in the caliper seized or just one?
