The motors fit fine in the seat well. You have to cut the pointed ends off a couple of the mechanism pieces to get the front rails to sit flat and also trim a strip of carpet out under the front of the seat.

I started a thread a while back about the C5 seat install in my car. There are pics in the thread showing what I did to get everything to fit.

Here's my result, with pics. The conversion is absolutely fantastic. At 6'1" and 230 lbs., I'm a little more packed into the driver seat and a little closer to the t-top panel than I was, but the comfort is worth it.

Today (Friday, 12/9/2011) my wife and I are spending the day driving "the mistress". I'm looking forward to being chauffeured around while my wife falls in love with the Corvette too. She's already asking about driving the car to work to show her girl friends.

Thanks to all that posted to this thread. And as always, I am committed to "paying it forward" to whomever can benefit from the experience that my CF friends I have yet to meet.

I agree. Nicely done. Your car looks good. I'm 6'0 and 230 also. I fit very well now and I replaced my 76 column with a 77 and gained 2 inches of leg room. The old C3 seats look cool, but as a driver, they suck. Thanks for posting!

If anyone is interested this is the link I used to install my C5 seats in my '70. I didn't have to modify anything on the car, just made up a couple adapters.

Raphiki, cool thread. Thanks for sharing. I thought about going the adapter plate route and would have if not for my awesome neighbor who was confident in tapping threads and was willing to teach me..

We have our '75 Coupe ready for our local weekend car show/get together and if I'm asked, I'll provide them a link to both options.

I put a set of C5 sport seats in my 79 but because I am 6'3" I actually cut out the floor boards and lowered them as much as possible. But here are a couple of pictures of the seat rails off of the C5 seats that I lowered by cutting off the front feet, removing the rear feet and welding them on to the front. This gained me some extra head room. I suppose you could do this but when welding on the feet you could actually position them to fit the stock bolt holes.

Nice. Like I had said before, I mounted mine directly to flat frames then right to the floor. Mine are not adjustable, but for me, that's fine. I figured why bother if the seats are never moved anyway. The headroom is just like stock. Actually better. With my new 77 steering column, the 76 is far more comfortable to drive. There are many ways to do the same task. I love all these installs. Custom is gooooood!

I'm 5'8"..... So not that tall, I put in the c5 seats with the c3 rails and hated the highth.... Took off the rails and fab'ed the seats to sit as low as possable to the floor.... I still think they are about 1" to high, but acceptable for me.... The seats are much more conferrable than the c3 seats

I agree. I worked my butt off to get the C5 seats when I had Fiero seats as an option.

This thread is one of my favorites.

Default seat belts?

What did you do for seat belts? Just picked up a set of C5 seats to do this. Thanks for sharing.

I used the rear belts from an f body. Lots of different options out there.

My belts (aftermarket, but stock configuration) are unaffected by the C5 seats. They attach to the tunnel, not the seat frame/adjuster.

Since this thread has been revived I guess ill update my interior from my earlier post. New interior color scheme. Leather and suede on seats with matching edge piping. New shift boot, door bottoms. Door handles and top cross bar dyed to match leather.

[QUOTE=SAMMAN;1586761766]Something a little more original and custom then 2 tone seats and plastic wood grain appliques from the 70's.

Yep. You win. I just covered my C3 in shame!

Sam, as nice as those pics are they do not do your interior justice.
