I also have a 77 and have drivien this car on many a weekend cruises.. I have owned this car for 2.5 years and have put 27k weekend miles on her and have never been in discomfort.. I Have done 5 hours drives many times in her and no issues.. been to tahoe and the central coast all in style... oh and i paid 7500 for mine.. Oh and most of those miles were on the orig motor.. new zz4 has 7k miles now..
I'LL bet your more interesting C3 will not drive as quiet, smooth or handle as well as a good '77 will. I'm not an expert but I drove about 2 dozen vettes from '69-82 and I bought a '77 because I planned on driving it about 6-10000 miles a year. SO far I have not regretted the decision though I "only "put 5500 miles on her from July-November. I don't understand all the bashing of the rubber bumper cars, I have been in earlier cars that after 20 min. I just wanted to get out, but my wife has driven in my '77 for 2 1/2 hrs. straight and never once asked to take a break. I know she would not have lasted 25 min. in the more interesting cars due to rough ride , squeaks, rattles, jolts etc.
