Follow along as my 79 gets painted...PICS
Yes it's a 1979 and I added the 80-82 front bumper & patch panels along with the 80-82 rear bumper.
Everything's been "backwards" on this car to begin with. Bought it as a driver to slowly fix up and motor started knocking (built a 383 stroker out of the L48).....got it back on the road then put all the new interior in (some pieces dyed reused as much as I could). Transmission went out so I put a new one in. Randomly came across a guy who traded me my 79 front end parts for his 80-82 parts and so that began all the body work.
My painter is painting this "on the side." He's had it for about a month and puts it aside when he gets insurance work in. I'll update as he moves along. The color will be a C5 Corvette color MSG (medium spiral gray metallic)
Beginning the body work:

A couple of pics from the above thread and now the body work:
FRONT END WORK
NEW REAR FENDER (someone did a poor job patching this in)
and to the bodyshop (yes I know my rear wiring harness was dragging, it was hacked up when I bought the car)

Thats one of my favorite colors on any vehicle and the car is going to be gorgeous. How did the wheels get changed then changed back?

thanks, I know it's just "gray" but I want a subtle color that will hold up well and easy to maintain. This gray really kinda pops in the sunlight and looks like almost a silver shade instead of darker gray.
i just had the z06 wheels on there to make sure everything fit well. When I get the car back I have to replace the original wheel studs with some arp or equal to grade wheels studs before I make sure they're on well.
Painter asked me to put stockers on when I drop it off to him anyways.

stopped by there saturday and it's looking good ... he should have the hood done Monday or Tuesday. The cell phone takes some pretty decent pictures, I don't even bother bringing my camera anymore.
all in primer and jambs painted
and t-tops are done along with front bumper and lower valence

Oh no, I cut the scoop out of that old hood, the glass work was ok (one wave toward the rear of the scoop/cowl and the glass was thin). I chopped up the frame and rest of the hood and chunked it. What you see here is from Ecklers. I still have that scoop for sale for cheap price if anyone wants it. [/QUOTE]
cut mine up to and am grafting the scoop section into my stock 82 hood.

That is going to be killer when you get it done. Looking forward to seeing this one done. I think the wheels are going to go really nicely with the gray color. I have a set of those wheels in my basement and I may have to give them a try on my 70. What size spacers are you running and are you running offset trailing arms?
