Default Paint on Cowl Tag

My tag inside the door was painted with the car years ago. I know now it should be a natural polished finish. Does anyone have any tips/tricks for removing the paint and not damaging the surrounding surface?

Q-tips and Goof Off plus patience should work fine.

Mask it off with painter's tape...then with Duct Tape (keep Duct Tape on top of the painter's tape so that it won't damage the paint). Then use a chemical stripper (I've not used Goof Off...it may be OK). Wipe off 'junk' then rinse well with water to make sure all caustic is off. Buff it with '0000' steel wool, then remove tape.
